Position Overview

Daily Acts is looking for a few good interns to help us build new volunteer communities and engage new audiences about water conservation and local self-reliance. Interns will experience the rewards of working with volunteers, youth, farmers, and businesspersons of the greater Sonoma County and North Bay area to help meet these goals. Through participation in workshops, volunteer events, and youth programs, interns will build awareness of the drought and sustainability practices; providing techniques to help folks conserve more water. This is a great opportunity to work with folks from diverse backgrounds who share a fellow interest in inspiring action and conserving resources in your local community.

 

Responsibilities

Act as a catalyst for local activities, including but not limited to:

Outreach and relationship development with businesses and community members alike, as well as the education and execution of important projects and causes.

 

This involves

  • Helping lead regularly occurring drop-in volunteer programs for Daily Acts held on-site
  • Engaging the community through delivery of creative tours and workshops
  • Educating the public through design of informational signage celebrating seasonal changes in an ecological landscape
  • Marketing by creating and maintaining social media sites; staying updated with Daily Act’s breadth of knowledge and our daily acting
  • Development of youth focused sustainability programing and education
  • Partaking in daily administrational duties
  • Lending support with a personalized or more general skill set wherever needed

Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for getting your hands dirty and working with community
  • Good attention to detail
  • A self-starter – ability to work independently in an organized and motivated manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead activities with diverse groups of people
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors and in a relaxed office setting
  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license

Length of Position: 3-month commitment with opportunity to extend

Schedule: 8-16 hours per week, schedule to be determined

Stipend: Weekly travel stipend offered
