Workparty: Planting the Living, Learning Landscape at the Petaluma Library!

3/24/2018 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM PT

The Petaluma Regional Library is an invaluable center of learning and wonder, where thousands of people gather to work, read, and play. Now, we're creating a water-wise, edible Learning Landscape there so people can take their quest for knowledge outside.

Over 100 volunteers sheet mulched the lawn last fall and installed rain gardens. Now it's time to bring the garden to life with plants! Imagine kids reading under the shade of luscious fruit trees, enjoying classes on Native History and Ethnobotany and taking in gorgeous sculptures while birds, bees and butterflies flutter everywhere. All that while saving over 100,000 gallons of potable water per year and capturing thousands of gallons of rainwater before it becomes polluted stormwater. Can you lend a hand to help make this vision a reality?

Please join us for a fun day spent with hands in the soil while learning, meeting neighbors, and giving back to this amazing community asset. Interested participants will also learn about water-wise plants that provide food, beauty, and habitat. Lunch and refreshments provided.
