About Daily Acts

Daily Acts is a Sonoma County non-profit that provides inspiring, educational and skill-building sustainability programs to local schools, municipalities and residents. Daily Acts engages with the public through events, tours and presentations while offering hands-on learning opportunities through workshops on graywater installation, lawn conversion, edible gardening, rain water harvesting and stewardship of our model landscape sites located in Petaluma, Cotati and Windsor. By increasing civic engagement and the number of transformed homes, gardens, neighborhoods and civic spaces, Daily Acts strives to inspire and empower people to save resources, build community and live their potential.

Event Coordinator Position Overview

Daily Acts is looking for a few good interns to help us build new volunteer communities and engage audiences about water conservation and local self-reliance. Interns will experience the rewards of working with volunteers, youth, organizations and businesspersons of the greater Sonoma County and North Bay area to help meet these goals. Through participation in workshops, volunteer events, and youth programs, interns will build awareness of the drought and sustainability practices; providing techniques to help folks conserve more water. This is a great opportunity to work with folks from diverse backgrounds who share a fellow interest in inspiring action and conserving resources in your local community.

Responsibilities

The Event Coordinator Intern will have many opportunities with outreach and relationship development with businesses and community members.

This could involve:

  • Supporting the implementation of workshops, tours, tabling and other events through registration, community engagement and volunteer facilitation
  • Providing post-event follow-up such as inputting donor and participant information into data tracking system, volunteer calls and resource sharing
  • Lending support with a personalized or more general skill set wherever needed

Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for getting your hands dirty and working with community
  • Good attention to detail
  • A self-starter – ability to work independently in an organized and motivated manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead activities with diverse groups of people
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors and in a relaxed office setting
  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license

Permaculture Garden Position Overview

Daily Acts is looking for a few good interns to help us maintain our model garden sites. Interns will experience the rewards of working with volunteers, youth, and businesspersons of the greater Sonoma County and North Bay area to help meet these goals. Through participation in workshops and volunteer events, interns will build awareness of sustainable landscape practices; providing techniques to help folks conserve more water and capture more rain. This is a great opportunity to learn about permaculture practices with folks who share common interests such as inspiring action and conserving resources in your local community.

Responsibilities

The Permaculture Garden Intern will be responsible for helping with general garden maintenance. They will have many opportunities to engage in outreach and relationship development at community workdays, workshops, and other events. This is a hands on position for somebody wanting to learn about ecological landscaping through getting their hands dirty!

This could involve:

  • Helping lead regularly occurring drop-in volunteer programs for Daily Acts held on-site
  • Engaging the community through delivery of creative tours and workshops
  • Participating in Model Site maintenance such as pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, rainwater storage systems repair, and irrigation repair
  • Creating educational resources to provide a deeper dive into plants and their needs
  • Lending support with a personalized or more general skill set wherever needed
