In a big show of community spirit, nearly 100 volunteers lent a hand to create a healing garden at Santa Rosa’s soon-to-open Veteran’s Village project. This effort transformed the village for homeless veterans, into a place of beauty and future hope. To slow, spread, and sink water at the site for increased rainwater infilitration, Sherwood Design Engineers provided the Low-Impact Development (LID) for a tiered rain garden. Additionally, the plant selection by Permaculture Artisans honored that of a Healing Sensory garden, as it is comprised of culinary and medincial qualities. Furthermore, the inclusion of pollinator, food bearing, and drought tolerant plants will ensure a successful food forest for years to come.
