Dear Daily Actor,
When your world has been turned upside down, every connection counts. Every bit of strength. Every heart brought together. Today, our hearts are with our first responders, who when they’ve given their all, give even more to protect lives, homes and our community. As ash drifts down on us for the 4th year in a row, we remember how vital the fabric of community is to staying strong and rebuilding.
When Siobhan and Gary lost their homes to wildfire caused by the climate crisis, rebuilding in a fire safe, environmentally friendly way became a top priority.
“I cannot begin to express how helpful the landscape design templates have been. Like others who are rebuilding our homes after the fires in 2017, I suffer from a lack of knowledge about the rebuild and permitting process as well, as decision fatigue. Also, as long as I have to rebuild my home, I want it to be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. I don’t remember how I learned of the free templates or the related workshops, but I clearly remember my sense of both relief and excitement that such a resource existed. We left with a renewed sense of hope and a picture in our heads of how beautiful and welcoming our yard will be. What all of you did for us was priceless. ”
– Siobhan McGregor-Gordon and Gary Gordon
