Driving down the road in our local cities, we can’t help but notice the blazing red blush of the Chinese Pistache leaves or the fiery crimson of Maple and Sweet Gum trees marking the change of seasons. Fall has crept up on us by wearing the disguise of warm, sunny days. The weather is perfect to join Daily Acts in growing our community through installing gardens, building soil, and rooting into this place we all call home!
These last few months, Daily Acts has been busy hosting graywater and rainwater presentations to help people incorporate these water-saving features into their rebuild. We are so grateful to be able to offer these incredibly rewarding programs that help address solutions to Climate Change and water conservation. Now we are ready for some hands-on action at several very special installations!
Seeking an opportunity to give back to your community after Thanksgiving? Helping at Old Vineyard Park in Windsor on November 24th is the perfect way to work off that holiday feast. Take part in creating a beautiful demonstration site for a low-water garden at this public park to inspire people to make changes in their own landscape!
This next project is near and dear to our hearts because we’re able to give the gift of a healing garden to a new tiny housing community for previously homeless veterans. We were blessed to raise the funds to participate in this project at the 2018 Soil to Supper Fundraiser – come help us make that vision a reality! Join us for a special Saturday and Sunday workparty at Veterans Village on December 1st and 2nd in Santa Rosa. You’ll get a change to help plant a landscape that features no fewer than six rain gardens to slow it, spread it, sink the rain into the ground where it belongs.
On December 8th, join Daily Acts as we install a water-wise landscape at an innovative site that models a solution for people displaced by disasters. Come learn about drought-tolerant plant selection and irrigation installation while contributing to disaster relief housing for people who lost their homes in the fire. We are proud to partner with Homes for Sonoma, a diverse group of professionals who came together after the fires to brainstorm both short-term and long-term solutions to our current housing crisis. This innovative site features elegant, inexpensive modular homes that can be deconstructed and re-purposed for other housing needs and is the first of many more planned communities. Be part of the housing crisis solution by joining us as we install the landscape that will help make this site feel more like home.
These are just a few of the great opportunities to finish your year strong by helping implement these large-scale solutions in our community! We look forward to seeing you there!
