On Friday, February 11th, 2022 Daily Acts and a group of volunteers enjoyed the sunshine while mulching and weeding at our Petaluma Library model site. As spring approaches it is a great time to touch up our site with mulch to help sink and conserve water, suppress weeds, and cover our irrigation pipes to avoid sun damage. Out volunteers grabbed their gloves and pruners and came ready to get their hands in the dirt! Winter is a great time to prep our landscape while plants are dormant. Seasonal pruning and maintenance help plants to grow back stronger, healthier, and more resilient!
We are looking forward to the many more opportunities to connect with our community and can’t wait to see how our garden continues to bloom and how vibrant it is going to look in the upcoming season!
Back in October 2017 Daily Acts partnered with Petaluma Regional Library and the City of Petaluma, to create this rain garden to transform the preexisting lawn, roughly 8,000 square feet, which helps to save approximately 200,000 gallons of water annually! We love being a part of shaping and caring for this landscape which helps to connect us to the land and each other while creating climate-resilient learning opportunities! Stay tuned for future events, but come out any time to our Petaluma Library and enjoy a nice stroll surrounded by biodiversity!
