Daily Acts partnered with residents at Martin Farms HOA to convert 2,700 square feet of irrigated lawn into a native and climate adaptive habitat. Summer sheet mulching and earthworks made way for abundant fall plantings featuring two rain gardens and new topography with raised berms, several trees, and countless pollinator-loving perennials.
Petaluma residents can enjoy watching this site grow over the years as they travel along East Washington. Built in 1908, Martin Farm was the original ranch house of a 17-acre farm and, today, is part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is a Heritage Home of Petaluma.
We share our appreciation for the residents of Martin Farms HOA for connecting with the Land Resilience Partnership to bring about a transformation that saves 88,530 gallons of water per year, and provides habitat and beauty to the city of Petaluma.
