Daily Acts’ ECO2school Program is excited to present the Green Heart Community Design Challenge Showcase!

This showcase introduces our youth designers and their amazing projects submitted in the challenge this past year. The Green Heart Community Design Challenge is a youth leadership environmental design challenge focused on creative solutions to community environmental concerns. The showcase, hosted by Daily Acts’ Leadership Institute Program Manager Nichole Warwick and Eco2school Program Coordinator Kevin Anderson, briefly reviews the challenge from the past year and how to participate in the coming year. Then, you’ll learn about how youth from across Sonoma County are reimagining their communities as safe, connected, energy efficient, and resilient.

The featured projects and designers include:

  • Felix Militante’s Bike Repair Stand

  • Karissa Konezny’s Community Energy Space

  • Sophia Chin’s Portable Energy Kit

  • Jesenia Garcia’s Waste Reduction Program

  • Daniel Garcia, Logan Jara, and Emily Rodriguez’s Development Recommendations

  • Dayana Aparicio, Edwin Gomez, Jose Loyola, Natzely Martinez’s Roseland Street Murals

  • Francisco De La Lez, Anay Figueroa Villanueva, John Figueroa Villanueva, Andres Cordero’s Complete Streets

A special thanks to:

  • Gay Browne, author of Living with a Green Heart, for her wisdom and guidance

  • Lizzie Klein for designing our awesome Green Heart tree logo

  • Jefferson Howery for applying his artistic genius in support of the students at Roseland University Prep.

We hope you will be inspired to co-create similar projects with the communities in your neighborhood!
