California Buckwheat Eriogonum fasciculatum

This tough and easy to grow shrub forms a patchy, compact bramble or a spreading bush. The leaves are leathery and woolly on the undersides. Bountiful clusters of pink to white and cream-colored flowers appear as early as March and dry to a pretty rusty red color. It attracts bees and other wildlife, as it is a keystone species for sagebrush scrub ecosystems!
These plants prefer a well-drained and sunny site. No water is needed once established, but it will tolerate occasional summer water.
