On November 20, 2021, in partnership with Burbank Housing and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Daily Acts had the great joy of leading the planting of a brand new landscape with residents of Carrillo Place in Santa Rosa. The new landscape at Carrillo Place, which surrounds the playground, was designed in collaboration with residents of the complex. Daily Acts incorporated the ideas and feedback of residents to create a detailed landscape design and planting plan featuring drought tolerant and low-maintenance plants, including native species, that provide food and habitat as well as clean the air and sequester carbon.

We had perfect planting weather and a great turnout of residents of many ages for a morning filled with laughter and shrieks of delight upon finding SO MANY earthworms in the soil that was sheet-mulched back in February of this year. Once all the new plant starts were tucked into the soil and watered, the kids of Carrillo Place scattered native wildflower seeds all throughout the site. We hope the kids will look upon the garden – full of pollinators, beautiful blooms and fragrances – with pride as they grow up alongside it.
