In honor of the Russian River Watershed Association’s annual “Creek Week”, on Saturday, September 21st, Daily Acts partnered with the City of Cotati to host a Community Creek Clean-Up! The purpose of this event was to decrease the amount of pollution in our local watershed, while providing our community with the knowledge and inspiration to be effective stewards of the Russian River watershed. Trash from every-day living can have a significant impact on not only the quality of our natural resources, but on the quality of life within the Russian River watershed.
Cotati residents saw first-hand the types of trash from every-day living that can enter our waterways, and the negative impact it can have on the overall health of our watershed. During the 3 hour event, 16 dedicated participants managed to collect and sort out 250 gallons of trash from the stretch of creek behind Pocket Park. With this outcome, the Cotati community successfully joined the other creek, river, and ocean clean-up campaigns that took place throughout Sonoma County that week. After participating in the event, residents were inspired to take active steps to reduce pollution from their every-day living.
