Project Description

On Saturday June 22nd 2019, Daily Acts partnered with the City of Cotati to lead a hands-on sheet mulching workshop at one of our original model sites: Pocket Park Food Forest & Wildlife Corridor. With the creek located directly behind the model site, weed intrusion had taken over the food forest, and sheet mulching was required for weed abatement.

12 volunteers came together to learn about the history of Pocket Park, the benefits of sheet mulching, and gained hands-on experience sheet mulching that they could apply at any sized site. Daily Acts staff were especially impressed with the enthusiasm of this group in moving mulch rapidly! It was an especially hot day, but the volunteers kept spirits high with a great sense of humor, and some even soaked themselves completely with the hose!

A pallet of cardboard was donated by Guayaki, which was supplemented with other recycled cardboard. A total of 31 yards of mulch were delivered and distributed for the project!
