On July 29th, Daily Acts partnered with the City of Healdsburg, Sonoma Zero Waste, and the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership to put on a Rainwater Harvesting Tour in Healdsburg. Participants toured two Healdsburg residents, Brigette and Linda’s, landscapes to learn about the exciting ways rainwater and Laundry-to-Landscape greywater can be used to build drought resilience while protecting our collective watersheds. During the tour, Kris Loomis, a water conservation expert with Sonoma Water, explained all the beauty and components of greywater and rainwater harvesting systems. She also highlighted the water-saving potential of each residence, emphasizing that Brigette and Linda could harvest a combined 12,500 gallons of rainwater each year!
Program participants left the program feeling inspired by the presenters’ knowledge and empowering words and equipped to take the next steps on their water conservation journey, whether that be irrigating fruit trees with recycled laundry water or collecting and saving rainwater that falls onto their roof for a not-so-rainy day.
