Santa Barbara Sedge Carex barbarae


Santa Barbara Sedge, or Carex barbarae, is an evergreen California native plant that grows in wet habitats, making it a perfect addition for planting in rain gardens. This large sedge has slender leaves that are 1-3 feet long and produces hairless stems up to over a meter long. This plant will thrive in full sun to partial shade.
Fun Fact: Parts of this plant are used as sewing fiber or in basketry by local Pomo tribes.
