Douglas Iris, or Iris douglasiana

Full Sun
Low Water Use

Douglas Iris, also known as Iris douglasiana, is a Northern California wildflower that grows at lower elevations and blooms in Spring. It’s flowers can range in color from a deep, rich purple to a lighter, almost white color. This popular garden plant does well when grown in shade to partial sun and reaches up to 2 feet in height, with rhizomes spreading out 2-4 feet underground. It is drought tolerant, however if it’s not planted in a cool, damp area, it benefits from watering every 2-4 weeks in the summertime.
