On Saturday, October 16t Daily Acts partnered with the City of Petaluma to host a laundry-to-landscape graywater installation for Petaluma Water customer, Camille Esposito. Through an application process developed and distributed by Daily Acts, Camille was chosen as the installation site because of the location of her washer to the landscape, her desire to be involved in the process, and because her landlord was in support of this installation.
To help make this event possible, Daily Acts was so thankful to be able to collaborate with Maynor Davila, a contractor with Equinox Landscape. He helped Daily Acts staff and volunteers feel more confident in system design and installation as he brought his graywater skills and knowledge to the event. Volunteers walked away being able to install the full system and supported Camille’s diversion of water from her water-intensive washing machine out into the back landscape. Given the dated washing machine, each load of laundry done was using 45 gallons of water. Now, when seasonally appropriate, that water will be diverted into the landscape to water fruit trees!
