Happy spring daily actors!
Powered by recent rains and spring’s verdant emergence, Daily Acts is again taking our inspiration, education and acts of transformation to the next level. And as always, we need you by our side to do so! PLEASE join us by donating to our May Matching Campaign, attending one of our many drought-busting workshops or by applying for our next Leadership Institute cohort.
By contributing to our Matching Campaign, your donation will get doubled thanks to a small group of generous supporters who put up $25,000 to inspire your giving.
Now how about that?
You know we turn small acts into big change. Feel the joy of amplifying Daily Acts’ work to spread climate solutions, build civic leadership and mobilize community partners to address the climate crisis.
Need further inspiration about what we are up to and what your support contributes to? These are the 3 priority areas we are focused on and raising funds for:
#1 Rapidly spreading drought and climate solutions and models. In addition to doing a ton of workshops locally on things like graywater, rainwater catchment, lawn transformations and the like… here’s some inspiring activities we are working on with agency and non-profit partners:
– Launching a county-wide rainwater catchment rebate program
– Writing grants to bring millions of dollars of state and federal funding to spread accessible drought solutions at schools and in neighborhoods in our communities.
– Spreading these programs and solutions to cities beyond Sonoma County.
#2 Training leaders and building community networks. In addition to launching our next Leadership cohort, here are a couple exciting initiatives in the works:
– After a successful pilot of the Petaluma Equitable Climate Action Network (PECAC), Daily Acts is partnering with the City of Petaluma to launch a second phase of this work and support implementation of PECAC climate policy recommendations. Other cities, agencies and the Sonoma Community Foundation have shown interest in bringing PECAC’s approach to other communities.
– Growing the Leadership Institute! We are currently deep in planning and fundraising to expand our offerings in Sonoma County and beyond.
#3 Daily Acts’ book is coming!!! Yes, it’s true, over 15 years in the making and I/we are nearly finished with Take Heart, Take Action – The Transformative Power of Small Acts, Groups and Gardens.
– Countless people, groups and agencies have asked how Daily Acts does what we do and how it can happen in more communities. This book kicks off a next phase of our work, spreading stories, resources and trainings with communities far and wide. So, your support and inspired sharing can get Daily Acts work in more hearts, hands and communities.
Those are the three biggies. If you need an additional dose of inspiration, please join me at Bioneers on May 15th (virtually or in person), where I’ll be speaking on the panel – The Cutting-Edge Frontline of Climate Policy: Cities, States and Regions.
The times are big, confusing, even destabilizing at moments. We need to continually return to our own power, that of our small daily acts, to the power of community and to our reverent connection to this beauteous planet. This is how we stay sane and sustained in remaking our lives and world. Thank you for all you do and for being an essential part of the Daily Acts community.
Take Heart, Take Action,
Trathen Heckman
