On Saturday, May 14th, 2022, Daily Acts partnered with Landpaths to host a bilingual insect investigation through Bayer Farm’s two-acre community garden in the heart of Santa Rosa. Families came out to learn how to tread lightly through the garden, observe, and identify the abundance of bugs and insects that can thrive in our landscapes. We discussed the benefits of diverse landscapes and how you can create and encourage habitat in your own garden.
We had a beautiful day that was sunny and full of winged and wiggly bugs as the children used bugs and jars to safely collect specimens of insects, where we did a gentle catch and release after! We are thankful for one of our facilitators Kandis Gilmore, who is a Biology Technician at Sonoma State and helped to lead our insect investigation. We are thankful for this opportunity to be in our community and partner with amazing organizations!
